SunSell Pro – Community Guidelines

SunSell Pro is built on fairness, professionalism, and respect. These guidelines protect both homeowners and solar professionals, ensuring that every interaction on the platform leads to a productive and positive experience. Please review the rules that apply to your role.

For Property Owners

Using the SunSell Pro app is free—but fair use and mutual respect are required.

1. Be Present for Scheduled Appointments

If you schedule an in-home consultation, you must be present. Solar professionals often drive long distances to meet with you. Failure to be home is considered a “no-show” and will result in removal from the app.

2. Both Decision-Makers Must Be Present

If you live with a spouse or partner, both individuals must be present for all in-home consultations. This avoids wasting time for everyone involved. No-shows due to missing decision-makers will lead to account deactivation.

3. Have Your Utility Bill Ready

Whether paper or a phone screenshot, please have your latest utility bill available during your appointment. It is essential for accurate system sizing and financial analysis.

4. Understand Credit Requirements

Solar financing often depends on credit history. If you know your credit is poor, you’re still welcome to explore savings simulations—but do not submit a property for contact unless you believe you may qualify. Some solar companies offer special programs for moderate credit scores.

5. Know What Disqualifies You

You likely won’t “qualify” for solar programs/incentives if:

  • You’re retired or self-employed and need a new roof or tree removal

  • If your roof is over 15 years old and made of asphalt shingles (a new roof is required for solar)

6. Submission Limits

Each property submission can be relisted up to two times if you’re unsatisfied with your first or second presentation. After that, it becomes inactive.

7. Handling Solar Pro No-Shows

Solar professionals pay to connect with you via your submission. If one fails to show up, they lose that fee. You may relist your submission at no cost.  Only report solar professionals who are rude, dishonest, or unethical.

Two Types of Solar Programs

Throughout the app, you’ll see estimates for the two main types of solar programs:

  • Loan/Lease

  • PPA/TPO (Power Purchase Agreement or Third-Party Ownership)

These programs vary by region and eligibility. Only a licensed solar professional should explain the differences in detail based on the homeowner’s situation

For Solar Professionals

To protect homeowners and maintain SunSell Pro’s credibility, solar professionals must meet the following standards:

1. You Must Represent a Reputable Installer
Only solar pros representing companies with positive public reviews (Google, social media, etc.) may join. If your company’s service or reputation is below standard, please return once you're with a team that reflects your commitment to excellence.

2. Lead Ownership Rules
When you purchase a homeowner submission:

  • You have exclusive access for 14 days

  • You must contact the homeowner using their preferred method within that timeframe

  • After 14 days, the homeowner may choose to:

    • Deactivate

    • Relist (up to 2 times)

After the second relist, the lead is permanently closed.

3. In-Home Appointment Conduct

  • Arrive on time (no more than 5 minutes early)

  • Introduce yourself professionally

  • Offer to remove shoes in clean homes

  • Ask where to set up — don’t assume

  • Be respectful, clear, and efficient

4. Remind Homeowners: One Visit Only
Explain that your time is limited and you do not return for second visits. Encourage homeowners to be fully prepared to evaluate their options during the consultation.

5. Know When to Walk Away
If a homeowner offers illogical objections (e.g., waiting for “better” technology or unsure about solar panels staying on the roof), do not argue. Stay polite and move on. SunSell Pro will provide more leads.

Common Objections You Should Not Debate:

  • “We’re waiting for better technology”

  • “We’re waiting for prices to drop”

  • “We need to think about it”

  • “We want to pay off the house first”

  • “We don’t want panels on the roof”

  • “We think it’ll raise our property taxes”

  • “We think solar is a scam”

  • “We’re waiting until after the election”

  • “We don’t trust ‘limited-time’ offers”

  • “We’re concerned about wind/fire safety”
